1st ever Dentist
Love that our dentist is also a great family friend. Someone we actually call "uncle" though he is not. He takes great care of us, and now our two girls as well. During their first week of school, they also had their first trip to the dentist...all the way in Columbia!

Cousin Cuties
My parents came up for Labor Day weekend :)
They brought our little niece Brenley with them!
We celebrated my dad's birthday.
Went and saw the girl's classroom and met their teachers.
Saw the new gym at church and ran around.
Went to Purina Farms, a family favorite.
Poured Olive Oil on Brenley's head too, since she was sleeping in Atley and Avery's room.
Played and played and had a great time!
Love you all so much!!!!

and he's.....
WALKING! At 16 1/2 months he just woke up after nap on Friday and began walking all over the house. He had been cruising around furniture for quite a while now and had no interest in taking more than 4-5 steps. It helped that all the other kids were encouraging him and so proud of him and best of all Phillip was there to see it as well. Sweet family memories, our last baby learns to walk...

praise the Lord for this sweet 4th born, Champ Andrew we love you and are SO proud of you!
*looking back at these videos he has really progressed a lot in the past couple of days. he now walks ALL over the house, and as a result I found him playing IN the toilet today...so amazing how walking means they get into way more than they do when just crawling:)

little icky itchy bugs
*warning: this post contains talk of little itchy bugs in detail...read only if you promise to not start itching your head afterwards:)
As far as being at home with my kids, this was the craziest day of my mothering career...
No mother sits back and takes a break when she finds her child/ren have lice, but this was what our day was like before during and after:
1st of all it was a Wednesday, which for those who know is Phillips LONG day. We say goodbye in the morning and he arrives home around midnight that night. There is no calling him to come home, it's his most important day.
2nd I was going to get some craigslist carseats from a lady and on the way there she called and said she wouldn't be home for another 1 1/2 hrs. I had a lunch packed for the kids thankgoodness!!! But Champ was in a cloth diaper, no clothes, and we had to find something to do. We stopped at a park, happened upon a splash fountain, and needless to say it ended up being great spontaneous fun. We got home too late for naps and thats when I noticed Avery's itchy red bumps on the back of her neck were worse and thought I should possibly google it. It took me a while to convince myself it was indeed LICE!!! I mean, who wants to go crazy cleaning and fine combing hair for nothing right?! By the time I saw my friends Katie and Kelli at about 5:30...I was almost in tears and on my way to Walgreens to get some pesticide free Lice treatment. Normally at 5:45 on Wednesdays is when I put the kids to bed, so they were tired and all over the place. I came home and became a crazy person...I literally poured olive oil all over my head and champs, put him to bed, and with the oil dripping down my face....did 3 lice treatments on the 3 big kids heads. It wasn't pretty...it was GROSS, and it was MESSY. They were great really, but its hard to get them to hold still so you can get every single strand of hair checked. I only knew Avery had it, and at the last moment decided to just do Canon as well. I thought Atley might just since they are together all the time. As it turns out, I couldn't believe just how many lice were in all their hair! I never saw any nits, only the yucky yucky yucky little (some were big, again wanting to throw up or cry this whole time!!) BUGS! I kept thinking how I needed Phillip to be there, to SEE how crazy this was trying to do all 3 at one time, keep their hands out of their hair and eyes, washing their hair in the sink and thinking our whole house was contaminated with lice!?! Once I put them to bed I started my 16 hour laundry spell. Did I mention my parents and little niece were coming the next day? I bagged everything under the sun and washed everything in hot water. I wanted to be super on top of this because they were starting preschool in just 6 days and I had heard lice were really hard to get rid of.
Here is what we did the next couple of days when praise the Lord Phillip and my parents were here to help out:
everyone spent most all days with their hair covered in olive oil (to suffocate lice, or prevent lice from spreading)
we used one treatment from Walgreens which was pesticide free, and two from my friend Kim which was all natural oils.
i washed all 3 kids sheets, blankets, lovies, pillows (only Canon had a pillow...the girls STILL are sleeping with no pillow just to be safe) after each naptime or nighttime. I was wanting to be extremely safe and over the top to really get rid of these pesky TINY bugs.
Phillip even shaved Canon's head. But going all out worked, we are totally lice free now:):)
I think they got it from someone at church and the only thing you can really do to prevent getting lice is to never wash your kids hair...supposedly they only like clean hair.
now if you are itching your head...I warned you:)haha

1st ever Preschool
I'm realizing more and more...it's a PROCESS. A process of letting go, when all you want to do is HOLD ON!! Preschool has been a hard decision for me. I always have a hard time when my kids are not with me. Yes, it's easier to only have one or two at a time. But I have 4 kids, and when one of them isn't there, I can't wait until they come home. Honestly the only reason the girls are in preschool this year is that I am going to get to homeschool them for Kindergarten. A few mornings a week this year compared to all day every day next year. And their teacher is really great and I know they'll grow a lot academically and socially.
They were excited about it, mostly because Phillip and I talked it up and tried to help them understand what they were going to be doing. In their minds they really thought it was only going to be 1 day. After the 2nd day, when we were talking about going back a 3rd day, Avery said, "we are going back again?!". And THAT is why I cried like a baby after they went in that first day. It's not just a few days, its a commitment to an entire YEAR of preschool. Lots and lots and lots of days away from me. I ran errands with the boys and we had a great time. You know I also got a grande Starbucks:) When I picked them up they were so happy, had a great day, and 3 days in are still loving it. Praise the Lord. We do have a very sweet school at our church and I'm grateful...and still a little sad. Why is it so hard for a mama to let go of her children? Because God created us with a Mama's heart! We are to love and nurture and pour our life into them, and it feels so odd to just send them off at such a young age. We will not be homeschooling for long, but the year/s I do get will be rich and sweet. Years of preparation to again send them off, little missionaries in their schools. It's a process, full of love. My mom texted me that morning and said "I love you so much, maybe now you are beginning to know". And I think I am, through tears and smiles, driving slowly away and being the first in the pick up line. I love you sweet children more than you will ever know.

Eureka Days Parade yesterday with our sweet friend Katie and her kids
When the girls are at school I've gotten some really sweet time with Canon (while Champ is napping). One on one time is really special at our house, and doing school with Canon was a breeze! His favorite so far is cutting:)
