A Love Story

It is a love story really, lasting 63 years long! My grandparents, Bob and Elaine Ruth, true love until the end. My grandmother passed away last Wednesday after a long battle with all symptoms of old age. She had turned 90 years old in December and had been living in a nursing home for over a year. My grandpa, who is 88, would visit her every day all day long. They would sit out in the foyer reading the newspaper together, holding hands. Then they would fall asleep on each other, still holding hands. They were right there in the front, where everyone could see them. A true testimony of their lasting love for ALL those many years. My mom snapped a picture of them one day, and even wrote a story all about them, so I am looking forward to reading it again now. On the way over on Sunday we stopped to see Uncle Kent, who just bought a baby zebra and artic fox, hence the post below. Sunday and Monday we all gathered together for the visitation, burial, and funeral. What a sweet extended family we have and we had a great time seeing all of them. My dad did a great job speaking during the service, and was confident that Grandma had given her life to the Lord and is now praising our Father in Heaven! Every time I looked at my sweet Grandpa I started crying. Seeing him so sweet and broken even now brings tears to my eyes. He did a great job, but would break down in tears every once in a while and all of us girls would just lose it! He truly loved her, and misses her, his soulmate and life long friend.
Phillip and I were talking about it on the way home and he was so sweet to tell me that he wanted to have that kind of love with me. Long and sweet, and if we can make it 63 years too, we are so glad to be doing it together!
The first picture was taken last year when we went to visit Grandma in the nursing home before July 4th. Atley really took to her and was loving on her a lot that day.
The second picture is of my sweet Grandpa on Monday after the funeral. Champ really liked him and would settle down when Grandpa would talk to him. This was a sweet way to end the day...
We took the kids to Browns Shoe store, the store my Grandpa used to own and where we would go get shoes every year as little and big kids. We took all the grandkids back there and Nana and Pops bought them all their very first pair of shoes from Browns. Again, it was a very sweet way to end the day.

Proverbs 5:18 May your fountain be blessed, and may you rejoice in the wife of your youth.
